Our work with children and young people is one of our very highest priorities.

Worship Together, on the first Sunday, of each month brings young and old together with worship and teaching which is accessible to all. There are always activities for children, often various crafts that fit the theme.

All other Sundays our children and young people spend some of the service in their own groups, which we refer to as Junior Church,  for activities and learning appropriate to them. The children start in the service and go to their own groups after the first hymn. They return during the peace, in time for communion. They are always asked to come and share what they have been learning in their groups - this is a great opportunity for them to feel part of the service and for the rest of the church family to see and hear what has been happening in junior church. Although most children love to come to the front and share there is no requirement to do so - if your children prefer just to sit with you and listen that is fine. After the service juice and biscuits are always available.

We have three age groups in junior church which all meet in the West End Room at the back of church:

splash

Splash is for our youngest children, generally those in preschool and key stage 1 (infants) at school, although some slightly younger children like to get involved. There will always be a Bible story and lots of fun activities, games, crafts etc to keep the children happy and interested whilst learning new and exciting things about God and His love for us.

xstream

XStream is our middle age group, aimed at key stage 2 (the Juniors) in Primary school. There will always be a Bible story and various activities: quizzes, crafts, acting etc. We've even done archery! The children in this group are encouraged to start looking at the Bible themselves too.

Grid

The Grid is for High school age children, most of it's current members are around the age of 11 to 14. This group usually focuses on a discussion and looking at what God has to say on the subject, sometimes there are quizzes and other activities to reinforce the message.

All our leaders are DBS checked and have a real passion for sharing Jesus with children. We use the Scripture Union LIGHT resources as the basis for our groups and all activities are age appropriate.

Babies and Toddlers

We have a range of toddler toys and books available at the back of church which parents and carers can access throughout the service to entertain their little ones. Feel free to make use of these in your pew or in the area at the back of church. We do not currently provide a staffed crèche. There is a toilet with baby changing facilities off the West End Room. St David's is a relaxed family friendly church. Please don't feel embarrassed or anxious if your little one starts crying or goes for a wander to explore their surroundings.

We will add photos and the children's own thoughts to this page as time goes on - keep checking back for more!
